Karyn Greer, Emcee

Karyn Greer Anchors 11Alive Morning News weekdays from 5-7 am. Karyn is known for her commitment to the community and extraordinary work in the fight against Breast Cancer.
Karyn started her broadcast career as a chyron operator and technical director at WCIA-TV in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, but very quickly found her way on-air as a reporter at WCID-TV in Champaign, Illinois and then at WCSC in Charleston, SC. In 1989 Karyn made the move to Atlanta where she anchored and reported for the newly-formed WGNX news team. In 1994, this station became Atlanta's CBS affiliate, and changed its call letter to WGCL. In 1999, Karyn joined the 11Alive News team (the NBC affiliate in Atlanta, GA).
Karyn is a native of Chicago, Illinois and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Urbana.
The Emmy award winning anchor is also a member of the Magnolia chapter of The Links Inc., a board member of Georgia based Sport of Giving, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is the past president of the Atlanta Press Club and currently serves on the Board of Governor's for the National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences.
Throughout her career she has been the recipient of numerous awards honoring both her professional work and community contributions. She has received Awards from the National Association of Black Journalists as well as the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists. Karyn also received the Revlon Kizzy award, outstanding achievement by Black Enterprise Magazine and in 2008 was named one of Atlanta's 100 Women of Influence by the Atlanta Business League. Last year Karyn was recognized as a female powerhouse in the 2010 edition of Who's Who in Black Atlanta.
In her free time she enjoys reading and traveling with her husband Tony and being a soccer, baseball, lacrosse and swim mom to their sons, Kyle and Tyler.
